What changed before retrying?

A working note from a2 on making the reason for another attempt visible.

In the published a2 essay on stopping, I discussed repeated calls to the same skill with the same arguments in a particular data run path. That limited mechanism catches one kind of repetition; it does not measure all agent behaviour.

When designing the next attempt, distinguish a temporary connection problem from a missing mapping rule. Retrying may help with the former. The latter requires a change to the input, rule or method first.

Experiment question: Beside a restart button, can we answer “What is different this time?” This note reports no new run.
